Meaning of Moulding
Perhaps at school we got teased about our name and compared with mouldy bread etc. But Moulding is a name rich in meaning, much richer than most in fact, and is a name we can be very happy with. More . . .

For those who like to read further, details of all sections of the website follow.
HELLO
We get more out of our family history if we communicate. The Hello section is designed like a blog to help us share information, ask questions, contact other researchers, make friends and whatever.
LIVES
This is the section for biographies, glimpses, snapshots, photos, tributes and/or other insights into Moulding lives.
TREES
This is the section
for displaying Moulding family trees from around the world. All
Mouldings are welcome! Anyone with Moulding blood or the Moulding
surname or Moulding connections can share their family lineage
here. Have a nice-looking and easy to follow family tree produced
free of charge! Just contact Peter Moulding -

Relatives and friends are fascinated by the "buds" and "branches"
that start to appear as their family tree grows. Family trees are a
great way for future generations not only to understand their roots
but to get a real sense of history - to understand their lives now
in the context of what went before. They can fire the imagination
and stir the longing to know the truth. What is the "Essence of
Moulding"? What is really real? What is it about our ancestors that
has helped mould us into what we are today? How strong is nature,
genetics, DNA? How strong an influence has nurture, the
environment, learning got on us? Questions common to most of us to
which we need to find the answers for ourselves. Researching family
history can help answer these questions.

TreePad is excellent for family trees. There are many ways to draw bloodline charts and present the information but it often means lots of clicking and careful study to get a clear picture. TreePad, however, gives a clear overview of lineage straight away and also provides as much detail as is desired. Photos, links and even audio are easy to incorporate. The potential seems only limited by our imagination and needs.
TreePad Viewer is recommended to view the Moulding family trees on this website. It is simple, inobtrusive and free. Get an idea of what a TreePad family tree looks like by following the View TreePad link in the Moulding Family Trees section. But note well that the version viewed through a browser such as Internet Explorer or Nescape is "clunkier" than TreePad Viewer. TreePad Viewer, like TreePad itself, is faster, smoother and more user friendly. To use it, please follow the Download TreePad link.
Anyone wanting to see their family tree in TreePad can contact
Peter Moulding who will lovingly produce it for you. It doesn't
matter if it's big or small. It's another piece of the jigsaw and
more pieces can be added later. Viewing many family trees, no
matter how complete or short, will help us all see the bigger
picture, as well as many interesting details and possible
connections. Please note that to protect against internet fraud and
identity theft, no details of living people will be
included.

RECORDS
This is the section
for viewing or downloading documents that will help us in our
research. Every researcher comes to a point where they have to dig
around in dusty libraries hour after hour for weeks or even years
to find snippets of information that will help make a connection or
answer an awkward question. All that trawling through microfilms,
microfiche, books and papers can be very helpful to others as well
and should not go to waste. With this in mind, the St Catherine
House Index for births, marriages and deaths (ie the Civil
Registration Index) from 1837 to 1902 in England and Wales has been
made available here. This is for the Moulding name but there are
also a handful of entries for Mouldain, Mouldin, Mouldon, Mouldoon,
Mouldring, Moulin, Mouldgoldinguy, Mouldien, Mouldling, Moulden and
Mouling. Also summaries of early wills and the Probate Index from
1858 can be downloaded. Census, baptism, wedding, burial and parish
records for the Preston, Lancashire area may also help some people.
All this data will be added to from time to time.
It is hoped that all researchers will share their notes and records
too, and help build this section into a useful free reference
library for all Mouldings. All contributions will be gratefully
accepted and your participation greatly appreciated. Many Mouldings
from USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and other parts
of the world originate some generations ago from the UK and may
find the current files useful. But please submit regional
information from your neck of the woods wherever that may
be.

EBOOKS
Searchable, online, free books relating in some way to family history. Project Gutenberg inspired.
VARIOUS
This is the section for all kinds of stuff! All suggestions are welcome!
OPINION
We will soon be history. One day a researcher may be slightly interested in our thoughts and feelings about things . . .
HOW TO
This is the section
to find links to general genealogical and useful information. It
includes a short guide for beginners to geneology and also to
computers; links to genealogy websites with a sea of information;
essential information regarding obtaining civil registration
certificates, probate or wills in the UK; links to similar
information around the world; and anything else useful enough to be
included or suggested by you.
SEARCH
This is the section
to help you find what you are looking for! There is a search engine
for this website - www.mouldingname.info - and links to places on
the internet that are essential for genealogists.
CONTACT
This is the section
for contacting the website creator and all other Mouldings. There
is a Moulding Message Board already in existence so it makes sense
to use it. It is easy to leave a message, help someone, ask for
help, discuss or provide feedback etc. Double-clicking a person's
name shows that person's email address and messages they have sent.
The Notification feature is also very useful. The Moulding Message
Board is also a great place to communicate because it doesn't lead
to spam and junk. And your long lost relative might be reading the
same message board . . . There is also now a contact form that can be
used.
